Kursk State Agrarian University is a university with a 70—year history. More than 50 thousand graduates have become the personnel reserve of the agro-industrial complex of the Kursk region and other regions of Russia. Among them, almost half of the heads of districts and regions, heads of many agricultural enterprises and companies. Not only agricultural, but also engineering and economic education began in KurskomGAU.

Since October 2021, in accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the duties of the rector of the Kursk State Agricultural Academy have been entrusted to Candidate of Economic Sciences Alexander Vyacheslavovich Musyal.

Education at the university is conducted at 6 faculties: agrotechnological, zooengineering, engineering and Economics, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Secondary Vocational Education.

The University implements: 10 bachelor's degree programs, 8 master's degree programs, 1 specialty program, 14 specialties of secondary vocational education, 8 programs for training scientific and pedagogical personnel in graduate school.

Kursk State Agrarian University prepares foreign students for further studies in higher educational institutions at the preparatory department for foreign students in the following areas:

  • Medical and biological orientation;
  • Engineering, technical and technological orientation;
  • Economic orientation;
  • Natural science orientation.

The educational program includes not only classes in the Russian language and basic subjects taught by highly qualified teachers, but also a full immersion in the academic environment - creative workshops and festivals, video tours and lecture courses, scientific seminars and forums for young people, an open dialogue with teachers and students of the university and the region.

Kursk State Agrarian University trains specialists in 52 basic educational programs in 9 extended groups. At the university, you can get not only higher education, but also secondary vocational education. All specialties and programs have state accreditation. Graduates receive a state-recognized educational document that meets the requirements of international agreements. The University offers more than 50 professional development and retraining programs for employees of enterprises and organizations in the agricultural sector.

A highly qualified scientific and pedagogical staff has been formed in the Kursk State University. More than 90% of university teachers have academic degrees, and in higher education programs more than 22% of teachers (one in five) are doctors of science.

As for the material and technical base, the university has 9 academic buildings, 7 dormitories and a canteen. The University has the right to permanent (unlimited) use of more than 1,000 hectares of land.

Our university has all the necessary infrastructure for social and educational activities, including 3 gyms, an assembly hall with 420 seats. 100% of students are provided with places in the dormitory.

The University has created and successfully operates basic departments at leading enterprises of the agro-industrial complex: "Applied breeding and seed production of field crops" on the basis of LLC EkoNiva-APK, "Technologies of highly productive rational land use" on the basis of the Kursk FANC, "Technologies of intensive horticulture" on the basis of LLC Zorinsky Garden. The University has developed online courses on agriculture and agricultural sciences within the framework of the national project "Education".

Both teachers and students have internships in the largest agricultural holdings Cherkizovo, Miratorg, EkoNiva and others. The bases of practical training are more than 230 partner enterprises of the university in more than 30 regions of Russia.

The University conducts successful research in the field of agricultural, biological, veterinary, technical and economic sciences

Currently, there are 6 scientific schools, the developments of university researchers cover 11 fields of science.

Within the framework of the Federal Scientific and Technical Program, the university conducts research in the field of environmental management, Earth sciences, and also participates in the activities of the world-class scientific and educational center "Innovative solutions in agriculture".

The University, together with the Russian Agricultural Bank, is implementing a campus project and a scholarship program. The best students of the agricultural university receive financial support from the bank and the opportunity for further employment.

Citizens from 22 countries of the near and far abroad study at the university (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, China, Sri Lanka, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, Nigeria, the Syrian Arab Republic, etc.). At the moment, the recruitment of students from African countries is a priority (60% of the total number of foreign students). Within the quota for education of foreign citizens and stateless persons in the Russian Federation, the following number of students are enrolled: 1 - preparatory department, 2 – higher education, 1 - vocational education. A quota of 18 people has been allocated for 2025/26.

Kursk State University has partnerships with educational organizations and scientific institutions in Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Sri Lanka. Joint scientific and educational events are held within the framework of existing cooperation agreements. Currently, agreements of academic partnership with educational organizations of Uzbekistan are under approval by the Ministry of Agriculture.

The University has 5 youth clubs of the Department of Youth Work and Educational Policy, 22 sports clubs, and a school for training modern leaders;

Information support for students is provided 24/7 by the Department of International Activities, which is a means of maintaining constant communication with them and coordinating the actual entry into the territory of the Russian Federation.
