Adaptation of Foreign Students
On February 25, 2026, the Kursk State Agrarian University named after I.I. Ivanov hosted an educational seminar titled "Legal Literacy for Foreign Citizens." The event was organized in collaboration with the Kursk Region Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. The participants discussed current issues related to the stay and residence of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation.
The seminar was presented by representatives from key departments within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including the Department of Visa Issuance, Invitation Issuance, and Migration Registration, the Department of Drug Control, the Center for Countering Extremism and Terrorism, and specialists in working with young people. In their presentations, they covered a wide range of topics that are important for the comfortable and safe stay of foreign students in Russia.
The participants of the event learned about the norms of migration legislation, the current restrictions on entry into the Russian Federation, and the rules for staying and obtaining a residence permit.
Using real-life examples, the speakers explained the types of online fraud and analyzed the technologies that hackers use to involve young people in illegal activities. Special attention was given to the content of personal social media pages and the measures of responsibility for violating the laws of the Russian Federation. In conclusion, the participants were able to ask questions about the legalization of their legal status, obtaining a residence permit, social support, and employment in the Russian Federation, and received qualified answers from representatives of the relevant authorities.
Foreign students of the Kursk State Agrarian University at the Maslenitsa Fair at Secondary School No. 23 in Kursk: warmth, fun, and mountains of pancakes!
On February 19, 2026, as part of the development of bilateral cooperation with MBOU "Secondary School No. 23" in Kursk, foreign students of the preparatory department for foreign citizens and stateless persons at the Kursk State Agrarian University, accompanied by Stepashov R.V., Deputy Head of the Department of International Activities, and Baua De Samba Em Shadrak Kaleb, Head of the Center for International Projects and Programs, participated in the wonderful Maslenitsa fair "Glorious and Soulful" for students in grades 5-10.
The winter проводов праздник was bright, noisy and very tasty – all according to the old Russian traditions. It began with a cheerful meeting of guests: under the cheerful folk songs and dances, guests, schoolchildren and teachers were immersed in the atmosphere of a real Russian festivity!
What was not on this holiday!
A pancake paradise: pancakes with honey, jam, sour cream and even with red fish! Pastries for every taste: fragrant pies, buns, cookies in the form of suns and Maslenitsa dolls from students and their families.
Folklore program: performances by school activists with ditties and folk dances. Photo zone: everyone could take photos in a setting with Maslenitsa motifs. The students of the Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons at the Kursk State Agricultural University had an unforgettable experience of the organized farewell to the Russian winter!
The participation of foreign students in traditional folk festivals undoubtedly contributes to their exposure to Russian spiritual culture and the formation of a tolerant attitude towards the values of the Russian people. Such meetings are useful and interesting for students, as they help to develop their language skills, build positive interpersonal relationships, and increase their motivation to learn foreign languages.

THE INTERNATIONAL PROJECT "RUSSIAN LANGUAGE FOR MALI" CONTINUES ITS DEVELOPMENT
Kursk State Agrarian University named after I.I. Ivanov continues to implement the International project "Russian Language for Mali".
On February 19, 2025, another Russian language class was held for Malian students of the Private Educational Complex of Alu Kone, located in Bamako (Republic of Mali). The class was organized jointly with MBOU "OK "Secondary School No. 23" in Kursk.
The purpose of the class was to develop communication skills in Russian in the context of the topic "Family".
Primary school teacher of MBOU OK Secondary School No. 23 in Kursk, I.P. Shikolenko, offered Malian schoolchildren a variety of tasks to consolidate lexical material: riddles, presentations, and reading texts.
Kursk State Agrarian University named after I.I. Ivanov was represented by I.V. Minakova, Head of the Department of International Activities and students of the Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons Mandembo Misha Matanga (Democratic Republic of the Congo). Misha presented a story about his family to the Malian schoolchildren and asked questions about its content.
The session was very productive and received numerous positive feedback from the Malian students. The time for the next joint session has been agreed upon with the Malian side.
Kursk State Agrarian University hosted an event dedicated to discussing safety rules in the event of a terrorist attack, missile and aviation hazards. The students were enrolled in an additional general education program for foreign citizens and stateless persons. Irina V. Minakova, Head of the International Activities Department, discussed with foreign citizens the safety rules for missile hazards, as well as the dangers of UAVs.
The issue of the rules of living in the hostel was also discussed.

Today, students from 21 countries of the near and far abroad, representing various cultures and faiths, study at the university. Mutual respect and observance of the norms of legal and social behavior is the guarantor of the safety of students and the multicultural educational environment of the university.
The participants of the event were familiarized with the norms of migration legislation, current restrictions on entry into the Russian Federation, the rules of stay and obtaining a temporary residence permit.
Using real examples, the speakers explained to the seminar participants what types of fraud exist on the Internet, and analyzed the technologies that hackers use to involve young people in illegal activities. Special attention was paid to the content of personal pages on social networks and measures of responsibility for violations of the legislation of the Russian Federation.
Sergey Fedorov, Deputy Head of the Security Department of our university, spoke about the necessary actions in case of possible terrorist threats and emergencies. He urged the students not to panic and to trust the official information of the Russian media.
In conclusion, the participants had the opportunity to ask questions regarding the legalization of legal status, obtaining a temporary residence permit, social support and employment in the Russian Federation, to which they received qualified answers from representatives of the competent authorities.
The Kursk region successfully hosted the Festival of National Cultures "Friends Nearby", which brought together 150 students from different countries. The event was also attended by students of Kursk State Agrarian University. The main goal of the festival is to strengthen intercultural ties and introduce foreign guests to the historical heritage of the region.
The program began with a guided tour of the legendary sites of the Battle of Kursk. The guide introduced the participants to the heroic pages of the history of Russia. The laying of wreaths at the memorial became a solemn moment, the participants were imbued with the spirit of unity and national memory.
The field kitchen is a real gastronomic discovery for international students. In the fresh air, the children enjoyed tasting rich porridge, stew and fragrant hot tea, which helped foreign guests to feel connected with the legendary past of the region.
The guests were also impressed by the master class on making camouflage nets. The participants learned the basics of weaving with interest. This volunteer work combined history and modernity, showing the importance of solidarity at crucial moments in history.
The festival continued by watching a video version of the musical play "The Heart of Kursk" performed by the talented youth of the city, and the program culminated with a visit to the Kursk Battle Memorial complex. The power and grandeur of the monument, the energy of the legendary height made an indelible impression on the students.
All participants of the festival received memorable souvenirs that will remind them of the hospitable Kursk land even outside of Russia. The bright and eventful festival proved once again that true friendship and mutual understanding know no boundaries!
On July 2, 2025, Kursk State Agrarian University hosted an important preventive conversation for international students, organized by the Department of International Activities during the summer holidays. The event was aimed at raising students' awareness of the rules of conduct and safety in Russia.
The meeting with employees of the Russian Interior Ministry began with a discussion of security issues. The police talked about precautions in public places such as train stations, airports and shopping malls. Special attention was paid to the rules of conduct in case of terrorist threats, including actions when detecting suspicious objects and suspicious persons.
In addition, the issues of emergency situations were raised. An important aspect of the meeting was the discussion of safe Internet use. The police officers warned about the possible risks associated with cyber threats and gave recommendations on the protection of personal data and financial information.
The Department of International Relations also provided international students with information on the migration legislation of the Russian Federation. The participants of the meeting learned about the current restrictions on entry into the country, the rules of stay and obtaining a temporary residence permit (residence permit). Special attention was paid to the requirements for registration at the place of stay and responsibility for violations of migration legislation.

Foresight session at Kursk State University: how language skills help build an Economist's career
A unique Foresight session "The role of language competencies in the development of an economist's professional personality" was held at the Faculty of Economics of the Kursk State Agrarian University. The event brought together students of the preparatory faculty from different parts of the world: Cameroon, Ecuador, Benin, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Angola, Mauritania, Bangladesh, Rwanda, Nigeria.
The meeting was opened by the rector of the University, Alexander Musyal:

During the event, international students discussed with their teachers what "foresight" is. This is a process in which entrepreneurs analyze the development of events in the promotion of their business. Anticipating the situation and analyzing the future are important for young professionals in any field!
During the session, we discussed in detail the profession of an economist, which is in demand on the labor market – businesses always need people who will choose the right development strategy and help them cope with a possible crisis.
The event culminated with colorful presentations by students about the economies of their countries: coffee production, textiles, minerals. Some of the guys talked about the family business that their parents run in their homeland. At the same time, the students demonstrated good command of the Russian language – some even read poetry!
The leitmotif of the meeting was the idea of how important it is for international students to learn Russian. This is not just a skill, but the key to international cooperation! Russia is actively developing partnerships with African and Latin American countries in the fields of energy and trade. Language proficiency will help you understand the cultural aspects of the economy, participate in global projects, build a career, and understand geopolitical issues.

The ethno-festival "Marathon of Traditions"
On February 15, the Kursk State Agrarian University hosted the ethno-festival "Marathon of Traditions".
The event was attended by Russian and international students. The participants introduced the participants to the traditions of the national cuisine of the countries of Africa and Russia. The African national cuisine, unusual for a Russian person, is a vivid and diverse reflection of the rich cultural heritage of the continent. From savory spices to fresh produce and unique cooking methods, African cuisine opens up a new unexplored world of taste. At the same time, Russian students presented a variety of delicious and nutritious dishes reflecting the history and traditions of Russia. There are plates with pies, salo, pickles and borscht on the table. Russian folk dance in national costumes was performed by African students as a sign of respect for Russian culture.
At the end of the event, students and teachers exchanged recipes and good mood.
The Day of Winter Sports
February 7 became a special day not only for our university, but also for students who came from African countries and China. On the Day of Winter Sports, a ski run of the Kursk State Agrarian University was held in the Solyanka tract, dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the city of Kursk from the Nazi invaders.
The students who until recently had no idea about such phenomena as snow, cold and "Russian winter" have already discovered a completely new world of winter sports. The first steps on skis turned out to be a difficult test for students of the preparatory faculty. However, with the help of the support and instructions of Russian teachers and students, the guys quickly mastered the basic skills of skiing and took part in the race.
Their desire to finish reminded us of Philip Boite, the Kenyan skier who finished last at the 1976 Olympics in Nogano, but became famous all over the world. At the finish, Philippe Boite was the happiest athlete, because he received huge support from the audience, cheering and rooting for the African. Our students managed not only to ski, but also to finish successfully. We wish them new victories and never stop discovering something new.

The seminar “Topical Issues of Preventing Extremism in Educational and Youth Environment” took place on February 5, in Kursk State Agricultural Academy. The participants of the joint consulting and preventing seminar discussed the topical issues of preventing extremism in educational and youth environment. The attendees of the event were international students of the academy, representatives of the Center for Counter-Terrorism and Extremism, representatives of the Administration for Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Kursk Region as well as youth worker specialist. During the open dialogue, international students got not only up-to-date information about migration rules in the Russian Federation and public order rules but face-to-face consultations on migration and social support and standards of conduct in the Russian Federation.
