Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

The faculty has lecture halls equipped with technical training facilities. Group (seminar) classes are held in four classrooms, while subgroups classes laboratory-practical and other types of training are conducted in the other classrooms. One department of the faculty (Department of Anatomy and Surgery) is located in a separate building with its own clinic.

The educational process in the disciplines of the departments is provided with the necessary number of textbooks, teaching aids, laboratory equipment and tools.

The veterinary clinic for small domestic animals at the Department of Surgery and Anatomy and the veterinary clinic of the experimental farm, which has all types of farm animals and birds, are used as a training base.

The faculty has five museums: anatomical, parasitological, pathoanatomic, histological, orthopedic; two operating rooms; equipped playpens at clinical departments for working with sick animals; a computer class with Internet access; a specialized veterinary pharmacy; an X-ray room; research and production laboratories.

The faculty and production are inseparable components, so scientists and faculty teachers work closely with the veterinary service of the Kursk region. Every year, the veterinary faculty develops and provides farm specialists of the region with various recommendations and methodological manuals. Scientists of the faculty make scientific and practical articles on the pages of regional newspapers, on radio and television. They take an active part in organizing and conducting regional seminars and scientific and practical conferences on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of animal diseases.

Every year, faculty teachers, employees of the Veterinary Department and heads of regional veterinary stations for combating animal diseases visit all schools of the Kursk region, where they tell and show films about the profession of a veterinarian. Thanks to such well-coordinated work, the number of applicants entering the faculty is increasing every year.

Scientific potential of the faculty

Teachers, postgraduates, and students are engaged in research work at the veterinary faculty. They participate in the development of complex topics aimed at improving and finding new methods of diagnosis, therapy and prevention of diseases in farm animals. Scientists of the faculty have developed new diagnostic and biologically active drugs, methods of treatment and prevention of animal diseases, which are used by manufacturers of Kursk and other regions.

Much attention is paid to patent and inventive activity. Only in recent years, scientists of the faculty, graduate students and students have received 35 patents for inventions and utility models. The scientific developments of the faculty's scientists have been repeatedly demonstrated at the All-Russian agro-industrial exhibitions "Golden Autumn". The faculty has formed scientific schools of professors Eliseev A. N., Sein O. B., Yevglevsky A. A., Eremenko V. I. Under the guidance of these and other scientists, more than 30 postgraduate students and applicants work on scientific topics, prepare and defend dissertations.
